"A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh."
Ezekiel 36:26 (NRSV)
Prodigal Thoughts: God is the Great Physician, an amazing heart doctor doing heart transplants daily all around the world. He wants to carefully, gently remove our stony, hardened heart that is full of sin and living like the world and replace it with a heart like His. A heart that has fresh life and a new purpose, not soiled by the plight of the world. I have had the opportunity to witness people both before and after God performed a "heart transplant" on them. The difference is undeniable. I’ve seen some people that were once so abrasive and harsh with their words and actions change to kind-hearted people with encouragement and an excitement in their voice. I’ve witnessed those who held grudges that wouldn’t forgive anyone for the slightest infraction change to grace-filled children of God that would run to serve those who had hurt them in the past. When you are given a new lease or outlook on life, suddenly the things that once were so important can fade away. I’d like to encourage you to take a moment and think back on where God found you. Consider the condition of your heart and your life during that time. With God’s gift of grace and His unfailing love, what has He changed for you? If you could help others know the love and acceptance by our Heavenly Father, would you take action?
Prayer for today: I pray that we would be so open to God’s heart that out of the abundance of His moving in our lives, we would be the vessels of change for others around us. That God would have so much liberty with our lives and our hearts so He can cut away those things that are not needed and only leave what pleases Him the most. I pray that we, through our Father’s strength and grace, would boldly proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
