VOTD – Faith makes it possible…not easy

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him."

Hebrews 11:6 (NRSV)

Prodigal Thoughts: I was on my way to work the other day and passed a church sign that had said "Faith makes things possible, not easy." The more I thought about this phrase while reflecting on my own journey, the more it rang true. Without faith in God’s grace and forgiveness, I would NEVER think or feel that I would be good enough to love God, let alone serve or please Him. We have to take ownership of God’s grace and mercy. We have to accept it as our own. For the longest time, I didn’t really accept the love of others, or if I did, I kept myself at an emotional distance because I didn’t feel I deserve such treatment. I did the same with God. When I began to accept that God truly loves me as I am, that is when my faith really began to grow because I realized that it isn’t in my own power or ability that I should love Him, but through the love I have received from Him that I love and serve and please my Father. Without faith in God, life seems so pointless.

Prayer for today: Father, I pray that You would reveal Yourself and Your love to us in a way that can break through the barriers of our human nature. That we would wholly accept Your free gifts of grace, mercy, and forgiveness. I pray that You would truly be glorified by the living out of our faith in You.

God’s grace on you…
