Verse of the Day – Romans 3:24-25

"they are now justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ, whom God put forward as a sacrifice of atonement by his blood, effective through faith. He did this to show his righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over the sins previously committed;"

Romans 3:24-25 (NRSV)

Prodigal Thoughts: The apostle Paul is addressing the Jewish Christians of the day to remind them that just because their ancestors were religious doesn’t give them a free ride toward being God’s people. Yes, Jesus died for all of mankind, but we still have to choose to live out a Christlike life. God is quite the gentleman as He has given us free will to either choose Him or choose our own way of life apart from Him. Notice the phrase "effective though faith." Ah! That’s the catalyst. Our heavenly Father made a way for us by sacrificing His son so our sin-debt could be paid. What, then, should our response be? Firstly, we have the choice to choose to live for God rather than for ourselves. Secondly, we live a life of Christlikeness out of a response from the freedom we have received from our sin. The only catch is that we cannot live a Christlike life without God’s work through the Holy Spirit. The more we surrender to God, the more He can do in and through you.

Prayer for today: Today, I pray that we all will take time out of our daily lives to give thanks and praise to our grace-filled, loving God, who has shown us such love even though we did not know Him. That we would recognize the sacrifice that was paid for our freedom and be humbled by this act of selflessness. Lastly, I pray that we would come to know that "our faith is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness".

If you need prayer, please reply and I will pray for you. If you would like to talk about this verse or have questions, I’m always open for your feedback.

God’s grace on you…
