"And this is the boldness we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us."
1 John 5:14 (NRSV)
Prodigal Thoughts: In this chapter, the writer of John has been encouraging the church to keep the true faith and how that applies to sin and forgiveness in the community of people around them. Often, this verse is quoted when there is something that we are praying about or something that we need. The context as it applies here would be toward remaining faithful to Christ and for the spiritual well-being of those around us. In my thinking, if there are sins that either there is anyone that is struggling with sin or unforgiveness we have the boldness in Christ to ask for healing and redemption of our struggles or weaknesses.
Prayer for today: I pray that we would stand firm in Christ and if/when we face temptations that we will boldly call on God to answer our prayers for help. That we would also extend that grace to others around us who might be struggling with sin. Lastly, I pray that we would see that sin holds us back in our relationship with God and that we would surrender to His love so that we can continue to grow in spiritual maturity, not lacking anything.
If you need prayer, please reply and I will pray for you. If you would like to talk about this verse or have questions, I’m always open for your feedback.
God’s grace on you…
