Verse of the Day – Hebrews 3:13

"But encourage one another every day, as long as it is called "today," so that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin."

Hebrews 3:13 (NRSV)

Prodigal Thoughts: :::FAVORITE VERSE ALERT::: This is one of my Top 10 "Go-To" verses. Other than the message of this verse, I love how it is worded. "…as long as it is called ‘today’," To me, this is beautiful. We have to make the most of each and every day in encouraging others in their faith journey. The author of Hebrews is setting a standard, a priority. Each and every day we need to encourage one another for as long as it is called today. So, what happens when "tomorrow" arrives. IT IS CALLED TODAY!!! I am so incredibly encouraged by this. Whether we admit it or not, everyone needs encouragement. Not just on the hard days, but on the days that everything is going well. When life is going smoothly, if we are not careful, it is easy to just coast along on the momentum of our spiritual walk. But if/when we do that, we open ourselves up to sin trickling back into our lives. As Galatians 5:1 says, "Stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery."

Prayer for today: Today, I pray that we would not only be alert for ourselves, but that we would take up the responsibility to encourage others along in their faith journey. That God would continue to strengthen and empower us all to refrain from becoming complacent and stagnant in our relationship with Him. I pray that we would be like Aaron, helping to hold up the hands of Moses in our daily battlegrounds.

If you need prayer, please reply and I will pray for you. If you would like to talk about this verse or have questions, I’m always open for your feedback.

God’s grace on you…
